Im mostly looking for ‘Let the games begin’ from the movie Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas. But any other music of his would do as well. Free would also be nice, but im willing to pay a little if it comes down to that.

Oh boy! I love his music. My school marching band did music from Chronicles of Narnia he composed. I’m not sure where you’d find it though. Sorry.

Plot: In 1517, Spanish-wanted street swindlers Miguel and Tulio’s uncanny luck gets them a map to El Dorado and a stowaway passage, albeit in Cortez’s stocks destined for floggings and slavery on Cuba. They escape, thanks to the war horse Altivo; a storm brings them on a Mexican shore fitting the map, so they enter the city, where high priest Tzekel-Kan welcomes them as the prophesied gods, accidentally confirmed by a volcanic rumble. What is the story behind "The Road to El Dorado"?
I love the dreamworks/ppixar animated film "The Road to El Dorado". I was wondering if it is based off a true story. If so, what is the name of the story and where can I find it?

Thank you guys in advance,
Brandy

Well, it is true that some scholars believe Tenochtitlan was El Dorado, it was actually one of the many "legends" the natives of the Americas used to distract the Conquistadors and lead them farther away from their own village.

Remember how the evil sorcerer meets his end? He leads Cortes to the old, destroyed entrance. Cortes believes he has lied and enslaves him.

In reality, a sacrificial villager would claim to have been to El Dorado before, and leads the armies of Spain far away from their home village. They played the Conquistadors for fools as long as they could before the spanish realized their guide’s true intentions and killed them.

They also told stories of bird men and a tribe with ears that hang down to their feet. And the spanish believed these tales as well.

If you want more info on the origin of the many different events in the story and how they relate to central american culture, email me at anicetusursus@yahoo.com

no it is not based on a true story. however THERE REALLY IS A PLACE "EL DORADO!" !!!! i learned about it in 8th grade and i even watched the film bc of history.. the story is based on aztecs and how they lived… el dorado is in mexico and it was called the city of gold. however just like how columbus took over america, this spain dude conquered the place… i forget what place it is now… but if u want watch apocalypto…wait!
ok so i just checked my old 8th grade notebook and i found this:

- the person who conquered "el dorado" - hernando cortez
- el dorado is ACTUALLY tenochtitlan
- montezuma II(the 2nd) was the king of tenochtitlan aka el dorado!!!!!

take note that in el dorado the place seems wonderful but the aztecs(the ppl living in el dorado) did conquer the neighboring towns…see the trailer/movie of apocalypto!! its very ghoury but its from a view/perspective of the neighboring towns and how the aztecs ruined their lives!!!(you can find it on youtube…!

enjoy!

It’s the story of Coronado, you can find plenty of information on him online with google searches. Search with his name, or under ‘conquistadore in America’.

As for the movie itself, no, there is no ‘true’ story about the two characters, the horse, or the people they met behind the waterfall, it was all extrapolation to do a story based only vaguely on the fact the natives had gold jewelry who lived in the mountainous areas.
